Lou Maltese Memorial Report - Stacey wins!!

Rolled up to the race at what felt like an absurdly early time to be up, even for a City race :-). Had enough time to put on my number, then ride to the start/finish as they were already lining up. Also, had just enough time to say hello to Edie and Kathleen, and off we rolled after the men.

Nutmeg Criterium Race Report — Stacey Wins

I decided to go to CT to race the Nutmeg Criterium today; it was my first race in a Cat 3 only field. It was the CT State Crit Championships, so all the CT riders were out in full force, as well as lots of out-of-towners. Our race didn't start until a late 6pm, but it was very pleasant weather with a windy home stretch. Our race began after the Pro-1/2/3 men, and as we were about to start, we heard shouts from behind us, which turned out to be several of the Pro men fist-fighting and one guy even throwing his bike at someone. It was crazy. Anyway, after all that commotion was settled, our race began. The course only has one technical corner, with the rest of it being snakey curvy with one small uphill. There were three of us that pulled pretty much the whole time, doing little attacks, but none of them stuck. It came down to the field sprint, and I got in good position coming out of the technical corner for the final stretch to the finish, coming in right behind another girl. She jumped and I sat on her wheel for several pedal strokes before I came around her to take the win. Fun little course, although it was a bit of a drive out there!

Best wishes,
Stacey
